WhatsApp‘s new feature coming to desktop. One of the most popular features of WhatsApp is request account info. In this feature, reports are generated about all the information and settings related to the users’ account. This instant messaging app of Meta only sends the report when the user requests it.
WhatsApp had introduced the Request Account Info feature in 2018 for Android and iOS devices. WhatsApp introduced the feature to its customers soon after the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Act was passed.
The aim was to tell users what information WhatsApp had collected from their accounts. This time the platform is also bringing this facility for WhatsApp users on the web.
The feature allows users to export a report with a request on WhatsApp, through which they are informed of their activity information, privacy settings, and the location from which they accessed the device.
The report was first published by WhatsApp features tracker Webitinfo. It has been said that this request account info feature is in The WhatsApp Desktop Beta Version 2.2204.1. However, this feature has not yet been made available for beta testers. But it will come very soon.
The messaging platform took 3 days to provide information about its account and settings after users made a request on WhatsApp once in the Request Account Info feature. Users can then download and export the report.
In the case of mobile users, the option is also given to delete the downloaded copy of that report once it is viewed forever. However, it is not yet known whether that option will be available for desktop users as well. It is not even confirmed when desktop users will get this feature.
